After you start your business... what happens next?

So you've started your business - congratulations! But what's next? In this blog post, we will outline a few things you should do to maintain and grow your business. These include setting goals, creating a plan of action, automation, and networking with other business owners. Keep reading for more helpful tips!

Set goals.

It's important to set goals for your business, both in the short and long term. This will help you stay on track and make sure that you are always working towards something. Write down your goals and refer back to them often to make sure you are making progress.

Here are a few ways to ensure you are giving yourself the best chance of meeting your expectations:

  • Make goals clear to everyone involved in achieving them. Writing down your objectives might help to clarify them, especially if you're working together on something.
  • Decide which department or team will be responsible for achieving the goal. After you decide which team will complete each goal, assign the task to that team.
  • Include numerical targets. Goals related to increasing market share or attracting more customers need a value attached to them to be meaningful. Using percentage increases or totals for targets helps quantify the desired results.
  • Define the timeframe. A goal with a deadline is much easier to track, so plan a realistic timeframe to aid the process of setting interim objectives.

Create an action plan.

Now that you have your goals set, it's time to create an action plan. This is a detailed outline of how you are going to achieve your goals. Include steps such as research, marketing, and product development. Use this template from Miro to help get you started!

Automate to dominate.

Automate whatever you can’t outsource. Automation does wonders for freeing up your time as well as enhancing your scalability because working harder does not necessarily lead to business success. There’s also a certain kind of satisfaction you will get from knowing that your business will run just fine regardless of whether you show up for work or not. Automation is that missing piece of the puzzle that gives you control over your company’s future.

Here are some things you can automate:

  • Onboarding
  • Customer Status Updates
  • Lead qualifying

Networking.

Another critical step in growing your business is networking. Get connected with other business owners and entrepreneurs. Attend events, join organizations, or start your networking group. This will help you gain new insights and ideas to help grow your business. Use sites like LinkedIn, Meetup, and Quora to begin networking!
